  Discipleship Training

God has called all Christians to be disciples on Earth and to go out and reach those that are lost. As the name implies, Discipleship Training helps to give direction to Christians and new believers and to equip us with knowledge and techniques to fulfill the calling of the Great Commission. There is a place for everyone in our discipleship training department on Sunday night at 5:30 pm for the children's classes and on Wednesday night at 6:30 pm for adult/youth classes. (Note: Discipleship Training does not meet during the summer months). Our Discipleship Training director, Kevin Ferguson, will be glad to tell you all about the classes we have available.

  Special Studies

Often times during the Adult Class of Discipleship Training, special topical studies are provided for further learning, and these opportunities are open for adults and youth of various ages. Many of the studies are by video cassette, which have included "Share Jesus Without Fear" (a witness training class) and a variety of Beth Moore Video Studies, which are normally offered at least once a year for women. Other bible studies have included an in-depth look at the Baptist Faith and Message: What We Believe and Men at Work: Drawing Men to God.

Women on Mission

WMU is a mission organization that seeks to equip children, youth and adults with an understanding of the mission of God in our world. The Women on Mission at Dripping Spring Baptist enjoy the fellowship we have together reading and discussing scriptures, learning about and praying for missionaries around the world.

We encourage the giving of offerings to support missionaries through the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions, the Eliza Broadus Offering for State Missions and the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions. But we also have a desire to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community by sharing His word with others and helping those in need.

We head many mission projects through the year, past projects include; gifts for hospital patients, purchasing school supplies for students, providing Christmas gifts and food for families, sending care packages to foreign missionaries, providing Thanksgiving meals, and stocking a food pantry.

Women on Mission meet on the last Wednesday night of each month. We would count it a blessing for you to join us. For more information, contact locally our WMU Leader, Amy Vick, or go to the Southern Baptist Convention sponsored site for WMU, www.womenonmission.com.

  Men's Brotherhood

The men or brotherhood of Dripping Spring Baptist Church collectively meet on the last Wednesday night of each month. However, the work of our Men's Ministry is an ongoing program in and outside the church, exemplifying our mission statement: "About our Father's Business." The Men's Brotherhood enjoy the fellowship we have together by studying, discussing and praying how the men of our church can be Godly Men and stay on task with his ministry.

Aside from Visitation Outings and Socials, our group has undertaken small mission projects. In the Spring of 2003 and 2004, several men from Dripping Spring participated in a retreat and work day at Camp Joy in Brownsville, Kentucky. See more details and pictures from each trip: 2003 Project and 2004 Project.

Above all else, our group tries to help throughout the church and our community where we are needed to further the Lord's work. We would love to have you join us. For more information, see our Brotherhood leader, Daniel Alvis.

  "Ole Drips"

Our senior adult group, affectionately and appropriately known as the “Ole Drips” meet on a regular basis for a time of fellowship and at other times to give encouragement to those in need. Although the name may imply that this group is geared towards the 55 and over crowd, they always welcome participation from the young and old.

The group does not have a set time to meet, but they try to organize an event each month. Be sure to check out the Announcements & Events page for the next planned outing or simply call the church office. All our invited!!

The Old Drips

G.R.O.W. Teams

Our G.R.O.W. ministry is one of the newest ministries at Dripping Spring and the most rewarding. G.R.O.W. stands for "God Rewards Our Work." This outreach tool is one we hope to use to reach out to the Olmstead Community and all of Logan County. The five principles of G.R.O.W. are as follows:

  • Sowing and Reaping: God's principle of the harvest; if you do not sow, you do not reap.
  • Involving every member: Everyone can write a letter, make a phone call, or make a visit.
  • Having fun with outreach.
  • Making quality time greater than quantity time.
  • Reaching out by divine appointment: If we just say yes, God has the opportunity ready and waiting for us. God is always working, are we?

This is a unique outreach program that requires only 12-15 hours a year!! Are you up for the challenge? If so, there are three basic qualifications for a G.R.O.W. participant at Dripping Spring:

  • YOU MUST BE A CHRISTIAN!!
  • Commit to being present at G.R.O.W. 12 times a year!
  • You must be correctly motivated: You should desire to see Dripping Spring grow, but love for the Savior and sinner should be the primary motivation for each G.R.O.W. participant!!

This will truly be an exciting experience at Dripping Spring. It's not about the numbers we get in our books, but it is about the numbers in God's "book"! (Matthew 28:19-20) Be a part of "The Great Commission"; see what happens when a church is active in God's plan. Get ready Dripping Spring!!!!!

For more details, please contact our Outreach Leader, Daniel Alvis.

Recreation Ministries
Let no one say that some members of Dripping Spring don't like living on the edge just a bit. Each year, activities are planned for all ages to enjoy a great time of fellowship and recreation, sometimes with a bit of competition mixed in. Typically, each summer offers a time to join in with the Associational Golf Scramble at Rolling Hills Golf Course in Russellville or to step up to the plate as a member of our Men's Church League Softball Team. If that's not extreme enough for you, feel free to come along in what has become an annual event; White Water Rafting on the Ocoee River in Tennessee. However, for those fearful of the raging white water, its not uncommon for members to get together on a Sunday afternoon for a lazy journey down the Red River between Dot and Keysburg.

Children's Choir

Dripping Spring’s Children Choir is typically split into two equal groups spanning from 3 year olds through the high school grades. Plays and dramatic musicals are presented typically around Christmas and Easter, and they're always a true "production." The volunteer leaders are always looking for more voices to add to the flock of our singing angels. If your young one is interested in participating, contact Steve Noe or Stephanie Alvis for more details.

(At right) The Children's Choir is shown in their December 2003 performance of the "First Leon," a story about a young man (whose name spelled backwards is Noel) and the uncovering of the true meaning of Christmas.

Adult Choir

Dripping Spring’s Adult Choir is a dedicated group of volunteer individuals who try and enhance the Sunday morning worship service through hymns and occasional special music. Similar to the Children's Choir, cantatas and dramatic musicals are presented typically around Christmas and Easter. This exciting ministry is always looking for others who are willing to make a joyful ‘noise’, and we encourage you to join us each Sunday.

Children's Church & Nursery

We want to do everything possible to make parents comfortable and attentive during their worship experience, but also to feel enthusiastic and confident about this ministry. Our Children’s ministry is staffed with volunteers that provide two separate nurseries for newborns and toddlers, respectively, as well as Children’s Church for ages 3 thru Kindergarten. Children's Church provides an appropriate children's lesson, a snack and fun times.

Deacon's Family Ministry

Our Deacon's Family Ministry is one of our church's newest outreach tools as they collectively minister to the needs of the church body and its families. If you have questions about this or know of a church family's need, please contact the pastor or the deacon chairman, Johnny Garrett.
